10+ FRESH October Rose Hibiscus (Hibiscus Radiatus) seeds PLUS planting instructions, including a color photo for seedling id. These are FRESH seeds I have germination tested with excellent results. (Other common names: Ruby Hibiscus, Monarch Rosemallow)

This vigorous bush has leaves that look like marijuana (that alone gets a bit of attention from passersby!). The flowers, which appear in the fall (thus the name, October Rose) are a DEEP, RICH burgundy and are shaped like little cups and go all the way up each stem of the plant. Blooming each fall with a profusion of color, these will add new life to your garden when other flowers are fading after the long summer.

The pictures don?t really do justice to the deep, rich color these flowers have! These hibiscus will easily reach a height of 10? in one season and bloom the first year they are planted. You may keep them trimmed back into a hedge or let them grow tall. I suggest trimming them at least a couple of times during they growing season to make them bush more so you will have more blooms.

These are a perennial in zones 10-11 a self-sowing ANNUAL (goes from seed to large bush and bloom in one season) in other zones. Prefer full sun and sandy soil (but will grow in the shade) ? EXCELLENT plant in drought conditions ? will grow anywhere with very little care! The stems and seed pods do have small prickers on them, so you may want to keep them away from areas where small children play. These will be the highlight of your garden and are a definite traffic stopper in the fall with the rich burgundy flowers covering the bushes top to bottom!
