You are buying 24+ seeds of the Indian Horse Gram Vine / Muthira Vine (aka: Madras Gram, Frijol Verde, Yellow Hyacinth Vine*). Botanical names for this vine include: Macrotyloma uniflorum, Dolichos biflorus, Dolichos uniflorus.

Larger quantities available - check the drop down box next to the "order" button near top of page.

Native to India, this fast growing vine is a well-kept secret, known mainly to vine collectors. This enthusiastic annual will cover a fence in a season and produces   small, pale yellow pea blossoms in the peak of summer (mine took about 100 days from plant to first blooms).

Throughout the tropics, Indian Horse Gram Bean is grown for its nutritious seeds, which make excellent sprouts, and as animal fodder. As it grows, it adds nitrogen to your soil as well as producing dainty (1/2"), pale yellow pea blooms. Plant in full sun with something to climb on. It likes regular watering, but is fairly drought-tolerant and very easy to grow.

*Although many sellers sell this as a "Yellow Hyacinth Bean", and one of it's botanical names is "Dolichos", apart from producing beans, I have to say that is it NOT similar to a Hyacinth bean vine. The flowers are single, not in large clusters like the purple and white hyacinth beans and the leaves are much smaller. Expecting to get masses of blooms from this vine like you do with the Hyacinth beans will lead to disappointment. The Indian Horse gram is a lovely vine, but I would not say that it's a "Yellow Hyacinth Bean".

The hard shelled seeds would also work well in seed art.
