1 (ONE) Agave Century Plant (Agave americana) (sometimes also called American Aloe or Maguey). The longest 'leaf' on this plant is about 3" - 4" and the overall diameter of the plant is about 6" - 8". The photo is of a mature plant, you are purchasing a 'pup'.

These plants have a beautiful blue/green color and will get up to 4’-6’ high and 10’ wide, in time. They are a long lived, monocarpic plant (although not actually living for a century) which generally blooms (and then dies) in about 20 – 25 years. They will produce numerous babies around their base in this time, so don’t worry, you will still have more plants!

These plants are EXCELLENT if you don’t have a green thumb, don’t like to do much in the garden or like to take long vacations! They make GREAT specimens for your rock garden or in any dry, sunny spot. You can practically plant them and forget them! These plants are hardy to zone 8a (10° F), can be planted in full sun or partial shade and are PERFECT for xeriscaping very drought tolerant. In colder climates, they can be planted in containers and brought in during the winter. Treat as a cactus and allow soil to dry between watering.

They do have SHARP POINTS, so they are not recommended for areas where small children are playing. Some people cut the sharp points off (about ˝" of the tips) for safety. Although sometimes called ‘American Aloe’ , the juice of this plant is NOT to be applied to the skin in fact, it causes rashes in some people.
