You are buying 10+ Coral Bean, (AKA: Cardinal Spear or Cherokee Bean) (Erythrina herbacea) Seeds, plus planting and growing instructions.

Coral bean (a native to deep southern US states) is deciduous and has interesting compound leaves made up    of three leaflets that are uniquely shaped with pointed tips and a bulge in the middle (some say they look like a miniature bikini!). In late spring and early summer showy scarlet blossoms appear. They are arranged in clusters at the stem tips and appear custom designed for hummingbird beaks. Flowers are followed by large seed pods that split open to reveal bright red seeds in late summer and fall.

Extremely easy to grow – grows well in part/filtered shade to full sun and average, well draining soil. Drought tolerant. Can be grown in containers in northern areas and protected from freezing in winter.

These bloom on OLD GROWTH, so they are NOT suitable for growing as an annual. They do not bloom the first year from seed and will need to be protected from freezing so there are 'old growth' stems to produce blooms in the spring.

This legume requires little fertilizer and care once established, and provides a wonderful splash of red when used against a backdrop of dark tree trunks in a natural landscape. It provides maximum color while blooming from March to May (depending on your zone), and again in late summer or autumn when it displays its bright red seeds.

Hardy in zones 8-10.

The bright red seeds are POISONOUS if ingested and should not be planted within reach of children and pets. This plant has small thorns on it's branches plant in a safe place.
